The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources presents the awarding of the Migas Safety Award 2024 as a form of the Government’s appreciation for the efforts of Migas Cooperative Contractors (KKKS), Migas Venture License Holders, Migas Providing Companies and Groups or Individuals in ensuring the safety of oil and natural gas.

And for this year BBG has once again succesfully received the 2024 Migas Safety Award in the category of “without losing working hours due to accidents”. With the Patra Nirbhaya Karya Utama for the BBG Western Area (KAB) and the Patra Nirbhaya Karya Madya for the BBG Eastern Area

This serves the evidence of BBG’s commitment to instilling safety principles.

PT Bayu Buana Gemilang (BBG) is a private gas distributor company in Indonesia. Since its operations began in 2003 until now, BBG has distributed natural gas supplies via pipeline, especially in industrial areas in Bekasi, Cikarang, Cibitung, and industrial areas in Gresik Regency, East Java. BBG is also known for its stable gas supply.

At the beginning of the third quarter of 2024, 45% share ownership in BBG was acquired by Sakura Indonesia Energy Co., Ltd. (SAKURA) a joint company established by LNG Japan Corporation (LNG Japan) and Toho Gas Co., Ltd. (Toho Gas). Where LNG Japan is a 50/50 joint venture between two leading Japanese trading companies, Sumitomo Corporation and Sojitz Corporation with more than 50 years of experience in upstream development, financing, marketing, trading and shipping in the global LNG industry. Meanwhile, Toho Gas, established over 100 years ago, is a provider of natural gas and electricity to industrial and residential sectors, with a supply volume of approximately 330 mmsfd (3,370 million m3/year) to 3 million customers. With the joint acquisition between the two countries, it is aimed that it will open a wider market in the distribution of natural gas for industry in Indonesia.

With the entry of SAKURA, it further strengthens BBG’s goal of introducing the use of natural gas fuel with a stable, environmentally friendly energy supply and is expected to contribute to Indonesia’s development, as well as supporting the realization of the government’s commitment to “Net Zero Emission” by 2060, the use of natural gas energy is expected to play a big role in reducing CO2 exhaust gases in Indonesia. Thus, it is hoped that this strategic partnership can accelerate BBG’s commitment to becoming the best and leading national private gas trading company in Indonesia.

AKRA establishes JV company for Natural Gas Distribution Business in JIIPE SEZ

JAKARTA, August 4, 2021 – PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (IDX ticker code: AKRA.IJ) and PT Bayu Buana Gemilang (BBG) have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture company PT Berkah Buana Energi for the distribution of natural gas. PT Berkah Buana Energi (BBE) will undertake the construction, management and development of network of gas distribution through pipes from the source location to the customers; initially the JV Company will focus on developing business in the SEZ JIIPE, Gresik, East Java to service requirements of industrial tenants in JIIPE. AKR will hold 65% of the shareholdings in BBE while BBG will control 35%.

Today’s signing ceremony was held online and attended by representatives of the top management of AKRA, JIIPE, and BBG.

AKRA President Director Mr. Haryanto Adikoesoemo explained the objectives and goals of the joint venture at the signing ceremony; “AKR and BBG will work together to distribute affordable energy for industrial customers in JIIPE. Natural gas is one of the cleanest, with low carbon intensity, the safest and the most useful of all energy sources.”

AKR has been a major distributor of Petroleum products, basic chemicals to Industrial customers and we are extremely happy to partner with BBG to grow our product portfolio ” said Mr Haryanto

AKRA is one of the largest private sector company in distribution of Petroleum and basic Chemical products in Indonesia with network of logistics and supply chain facilities across the Indonesian Archipelago. Jointly with Pelindo III, AKRA is developing JIIPE, which has recently been designated as Special Economic Zone status by President of Republic on Indonesia; JIIPE provides efficient utilities in one of Indonesia’s largest integrated industrial and Port estate including Power plants, gas distribution, data, water, waste water and other services.

BBG is the leading private sector company in Indonesia engaged in the trading and distribution of natural gas. It has established a gas pipe network in East Jawa, West Jawa and East Kalimantan and distributes natural gas via land pipes, trucks and other land based facilities through the application of various available technology such as CNG, NGV and gas fired power plants.
